This desert town experiences five seasons throughout the year: fall, winter, spring, summer, and monsoon. Average summer heat can rise as high as 100°F, while the monsoon months right after can experience ten or more days each month of rainfall. With more than 150 companies involved in optics or optoelectronics systems, Tucson has earned the nickname “Optic Valley.” It also hosts the world’s largest gem and mineral exposition annually, featuring 43 exhibits.
