Fontana is a city in southern California. The city has grown tremendously over the last 15 years due to several new residential developments and a campaign to annex many unincorporated, but developed county islands. Fontana’s economy is driven by industrial uses, especially trucking based industries. The city is home to many truck dealerships and industrial equipment sales centers.

One of the greatest landmarks in the city is the Lewis Library and Technical Center that opened April 2008. It is the largest library in the county and includes several amenities, such as 203 public computers, auditoriums, meeting rooms, a literacy center with tutoring programs, and a children’s library named after Martin Luther King Jr. Fontana has several fine arts institutions, including Center Stage Theater, which used to be a movie theater but was renovated to be a live dinner theater, and the Steelworker’s Auditorium that hosts events like Performance Tuesdays, theater camps, acting and music classes, and family movie nights.

Fontana has a plethora of community centers to serve its residents. The Art Depot was originally built as a freight depot for the Pacific Electric Railway, but turned into an arts community center that hosts art classes, open studio activities, and special events. Other popular community centers in the area include the Fontana Community Senior Center, the Jack Bulik Teen Center, and the Jessie Turner Health and Fitness Community Center, Aquatics Center, and Fontana Park.

The city is served by the Omnitrans bus service and the Metrolink rail that serves the greater Los Angeles area has a station in Fontana. Fontana is about ten minutes away from the Ontario International Airport.
