Stylishly Rugged Performer: 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV
As the next generation of this popular SUV that debuted back in 1995, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV is functional and refined, while offering a number safety features and advanced technologies for today’s connected customers. Offered in LS, LT and Premier models, the big news this year is the availability of three new equipment packages:
Custom Package – Optional on LS, this appearance package includes 18” painted aluminum wheels, P265/65R18 all-season blackwall tires, chrome grille insert, and third row seat delete.
RST Edition – Optional on LT and Premier, this package gives the Tahoe a more aggressive look and includes 22” Gloss Black aluminum wheels with custom silver inserts, front/rear black bowties, unique Gloss Black Sport grille with body-color surround, body-color door handles and headlamp accents, black mirror caps, beltline moldings, and roof rails and black nameplate badging.
RST 6.2L Performance Edition – Optional on Premier, this equipment package includes a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine bolted to a Hydra-Matic ten-speed automatic transmission, high-capacity air cleaner, 170-amp alternator, 3.23 rear axle, two-speed active transfer case (4WD only), trailer brake controller and Sport calibration.
Standard power for Tahoe is generated by a EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 engine joined to a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission. It also features TapShift control, tow/haul mode and auto grade braking. All wheel drive is an available option.
Tahoe is engineered to deliver a quiet, controlled ride with responsive steering and braking feel. It all starts on a strong, fully boxed, perimeter frame, which incorporates a large degree of high-strength steel and supports above average payload and trailering capability. All models feature an updated coil-over-shock independent front suspension design, with forged aluminum upper control arms and cast-aluminum lower control arms on select models. At the rear is a five-link coil-spring suspension design, which enables optimal ride and handling through precise tuning.
Inside the passenger cabin, the interior of the Tahoe is refined to enhance functionality and comfort, while delivering the technologies and connectivity that are more important than ever. Premium materials and enhanced ergonomics demonstrate the SUVs’ blend of sophistication, craftsmanship and function. The instrument panel has a straightforward design featuring a large, easy-to-view cluster. It includes a 4.2-inch color driver information center display in the center of the cluster, for vehicle, infotainment and other data. There’s also an eight-inch-diagonal color touch screen radio on LT and Premier models in the center of the instrument panel, incorporating secured storage behind the motorized screen.
